“九二共识”

“九二共识”的缘起是为实现和推进两岸协商奠定政治基础。1992年10月底至12月初，中国大陆的民间团体——海峡两岸关系协会与台湾的民间团体——海峡交流基金会，经过多次磋商，最终形成了以口头方式表达的“海峡两岸均坚持一个中国的原则”的共识，后被称为“九二共识”。

"1992 Consensus"

The "1992 Consensus" was an oral agreement reached between the mainland-based Association for Relations Across the Taiwan Straits (ARATS) and the Taiwan-based Straits Exchange Foundation (SEF) as a result of their talks held from late October to early December of 1992. The two nongovernmental organizations agreed that “both sides of the Taiwan Straits will follow the one-China principle," which subsequently became the political foundation for cross-Straits consultations.
